This watch is sold as watch only and therefore comes with no original Seiko box or original Seiko paperwork, the watch is paired on a NON-Seiko Strap! The watch is gold plated and from 1986 so signs of wear and gold plating wearing will be seen, the watch has no service history but is working well and fully functioning.
The Watch
The 7A28 predates the 7A38 by a short while, but it was the very first analog quartz chronograph introduced to the market and for that reason quite historically important in the world of watches! This lovely reference 7A28-7029 features a gold plated case with a matching gold-tone dial, contrasting black hands, stick markers and slightly recessed subdials at 3, 6 and 9 positions. Seiko advertised the 7A28 series “Watch history being made”. They marketed to high-end consumers by featuring the watch propped up against Porsche 911 and Audi Quatros. In 1985 it was amongst 3 Seikos in the James Bond film “View to a kill”. Seiko started production of its caliber 7A28 in 1980 and went on to release watches with this movement to the consumer market as well as supplying them to the military. It is believed Seiko supplied a total of 11,307 pieces of the 7A28 watches to the RAF. Production finally ended in 1992. The movement is a 15 jewel Analog quartz all-metal movement that is easy to regulate and service. Fitted on a 20mm leather strap.
Personal Note
We are seeing these Seiko quartz references becoming more and more collectible, I suspect the 7A28 & 7A38 models will only continue to go up as more people learn the history of the references and gain more interest in them!
