Formerly known as the La Generale Watch Co. it was founded by Louis Brandt in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1848. In 1903 they renamed the company Omega until 1982 when they officially changed their name to Omega SA. They are today part of the Swiss Swatch Group.
In 1967 Omega launched the De Ville as a stand-alone line. A much more streamlined, varied, and younger feel than the Seamaster, it soon became Omega’s best-selling collection.
This 1969 Omega De Ville embodies those points perfectly. Its 20-micron gold plated “Tank” shape has curves in all the right places with a 36mm lug to lug length makes for an elegant fit. On the right side is a signed crown. Its curved edges wrap around the lugs and lead to the domed crystal that covers a golden textured dial, broad indexes made up of 2 batons at 12, 3, 6, and 9 and fine baton indexes mark the hours. Fine pencil hands complete the elegant dial. The text is simple with Omega at 12 o’clock and De Ville above the 6 o’clock position. On the back a plain stainless steel case back. Inside a Manually Wound Omega Cal. 620, 17 Jewels, 19,800 beats per hour. Fitted on a quality black leather 21mm strap with a reproduction Omega Buckle.

A very elegant looking Omega and interesting due to the lug size of 21mm it wears far larger than the dimensions would first indicate, the dial also features an almost grainy texture which is very attractive and really shows itself when in certain lighting. Will be great for him or for her, especially with Christmas around the corner.
