The Watch

In 1860, Jacques Didisheim, a descendant of an Alsatian family, founded a watchmaking workshop in Saint-Imier, Switzerland. Juvenia is named after his wife. Several years later, the manufacture was re-established in La Chaux-de-Fonds, this was an ideal location for developing the brand. In 1880 they became one of the first watchmaking houses to make ladies' watches. 1908 saw the introduction of a range of extra-flat movements which they manufactured in-house. In 1914 they showcased at the Swiss National Exhibition the world's thinnest watch at that time. It measured 9.5mm in diameter and 2.5mm in thickness. Over the years they have become famous for original and avant-garde designs. Their success continued with the opening of 2 Boutiques in Shanghai and Beijing in 2009.

Here we have a 1960s Juvenia Simple Dress Watch. The 33mm stainless steel case curves in all the right places. A lug to lug length of 39mm and a thickness of just 6mm ensures a comfortable fit on your wrist. On the right side, a signed crown. The flat crystal sits above a white dial. Elegant slim baton indexes mark the hours. Slender steel pencil hands complete this simple sophisticated dress watch. On the reverse, a snap-on case back. Inside a Manually Wound Peseux 7001, 17 jewels, 21,600 beats per hour. NOMOS used this movement from 1992 until 2005. The watch comes fitted on a 16mm leather strap with a signed buckle and comes with its original swing tag.

Personal Note

Another Juvenia and this time this model has a fairly unique and interesting case shape, even more so when placed on the wrist! The signed crown, buckle, and swing tags are all nice additions, especially at this incredibly fair price tag!
