Baume & Mercier was founded in 1830. By brothers Louis-Victor and Célestin Baume, they opened a watch dealership in Les Bois, a village in the Swiss Jura. Opening an office in London they expanded quickly, winning several awards and gaining a reputation for excellence. William Baume joined forces with Paul Mercier and founded Baume & Mercier, Genève, in 1918. In 1988, the firm joined the Vendôme group, now Richemont.
Here we have an attractive 1956 Baume & Mercier 18ct Bumper Automatic 3103. The 33mm 18ct Pink Gold case has elegantly tapered lugs. A lug to lug length of 39mm and a thickness of 10.5mm ensures a comfortable fit on your wrist. On the right side, a domed crown. The stepped bezel holds a domed crystal. The golden dial has applied pink gold 12 and 6 with chamfer-edged indexes marking the hours. At 6 o’clock a sub-seconds register. Fine pink gold dauphine hands catch the light as you rotate your wrist. On the reverse, a screw-down case back with Swiss hallmarks and reference, serial numbers stamped into it. Inside a Baume & Mercier 17 Jewel Bumper Automatic. The watch comes fitted on an 18mm leather strap.
Points of Mention
This watch is sold as "Watch Only" and therefore comes with no original Baume & Mercier box or paperwork. The watch comes paired on a suede strap which suits the watch nicely, a gold plated buckle is on the strap. Important to remember this watch has "Female" lugs to requires a careful hand when changing the strap. The watch is from Circa. 1956 and is sold in worn, vintage condition, the watch has been polished in its life and the dial is showing signs of age.
