Points of Mention

This watch is sold as "Watch Only" and therefore comes with no original box or paperwork. The watch comes paired with a well-suited brown leather strap. The watch is from Circa. 1930s and is in worn, vintage condition, but overall very good as you can see for a watch of this period. The watch comes with our 12-Months NON-Waterproof Warranty.

The Watch

"Novice" was one of the brands of German maker Dugena who started life as Alpina Berlin before the name change to Dugena in 1942. The German watchmaker's cooperative Alpina was dissolved around 1973 and restructured into a GmbH. (limited company) In 1993 Egana Goldpfeil bought Dugena. Today Dugena belongs to Nova Tempora Uhren und Schmuck GmbH in Meisenheim.

This elegant Novice has a 22mm rectangular “Tank” case. Its beveled sides gently curve towards the fixed lugs. A lug to lug length of 43mm ensures a comfortable fit on your wrist. A domed crystal floats above a two-tone dial. The gilt minute track is clearly printed. Gilt-edged Arabic numeral indexes mark the hours at 6 o'clock and a rectangle sub-seconds register. A generous coating of Radium is applied. Stubby sword hands thermally blued have Radium luminescence. The design of the watch captures the essence of Art Deco of the 1930s. On the reverse a slightly curved snap-on case back. Inside a Manually Wound Novice movement. It comes fitted on a 16mm leather strap.

Personal Note

You guys and girls seem to love these beautifully designed 30's "Tank" watches as much as I, so I'll keep hunting for great ones and providing them at great prices! The dial of this one is the star of the show, the condition is fantastic for the age and the fact the radium has remained so well preserved is incredible.
