The Watch

Florentine Aristo Jones founded IWC in 1868. In 1867 he applied for a European passport with the ambition to create watches using the American system of Watchmaking. This system was derived from the Federal Armories at Springfield and Harpers Ferry. Where high precision interchangeable parts were needed for armaments. This was perfect to use in watchmaking and Florentine was a pioneer in introducing it to the Swiss. In 1868 Florentine and Charles Kidder ended up in  Schaffhausen Switzerland. Originally called the company  F.A Jones & Co which was later changed to IWC International Watch Company. Florentine returned to the USA in 1876 where he retired and sadly passed away in 1916. His spirit carries on today in the modern IWC watches.

IWC first introduced the Aquatimer in 1967, simplicity in design and reliable functionality. This modern Aquatimer is inspired by its ancestors. The 42mm stainless steel case and rotating bezel are durable and easy to grip whether you are adventuring in the office or deep in the oceans. On the left side, you have a crown with holes in it, this is part of the SafeDive System, designed to allow water to escape after the watch has been submerged in water. On the right side, a screw-down signed crown. The inner bezel also rotates combined with the outer bezel that controls the IWC SafeDive System with the 15 minute dive time scale Lumed in Green Super-Luminova. Sapphire Crystal with AR coating on both sides protects the dial. The broad hands and indexes are coated in luminescence with the minute hand coated in the same Green Super-luminova as the indexes. On the reverse a screw-down case back. Inside we have the IWC Automatic Cal. 30120, a base of the ETA 2892-A2, 21 jewels, beating at 28,800 beats per hour. The movement has been nicely decorated with Cotes de Geneve and perlage. The watch comes on a 22mm IWC Rubber strap with a signed buckle, it is both thin and pliable for a comfortable fit.

Personal Note

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to buy this watch at an absolute bargain, yes it doesn't come with its box and papers but that is why it's a bargain! Plus, as I always say, you don't wear the box and papers! The watch is what matters and this one is in fantastic condition and looks great.
