This watch is sold with its original Chaumet box only, no original paperwork is provided with the watch. The watch comes paired on its original Chaumet Leather strap with folding clasp, the leather keeper on the strap is showing signs of wear. The watch is in worn condition, see the photos. The watch is running well as you would expect.

The Watch

Marie-Etienne Nitot, Chaumet's founder, who famously worked with Auber, jeweller to Queen Marie-Antoinette. From 1802 he became Napoleon's personal jeweller. In 1907 they moved to Paris and lived in a listed historical residence.  It houses the complete Chaumet archive. Today they have a factory in the famous Vallee de Joux region of Switzerland. Chaumet’s flair for flamboyant elegance can be seen here with the Dandy Grande Date. A 39mm cushion stainless steel case with high polish and satin-finished surfaces. Reminiscent of 1950’s styling.  The crown has a brown lacquered cabochon setting. Domed Sapphire crystal AR coated shows off perfectly the sun-ray patterned chocolate brown satin-finished dial, with vertical stripes engraved. Applied Arabic numerals alternating baton markers are complimented with slim baton hands coated with Luminescent rhodium. Subdial for the seconds sits at the 6 o'clock position while a big date window is positioned at the 12 o’clock, creating a well-balanced dial of understated elegance and proportion.  The case back has the same vertical stripe engraving. Inside we have an Automatic CP 12V-Vll with Dubois Depraz 1400 module, this module is responsible for the sub-seconds and date functions. 21 Jewels 28,800 beats per hour. Fitted on a chocolate brown alligator strap with blue stitch detailing, a folding clasp with a push-button release for added security.

Personal Note

Whilst Chaumet is certainly known for the jewellery more than their watches, this Dandy Grande Date is a great example of how a jewellery brand can also create an incredible watch. I am excited to see what else is coming from them in the future, we have seen many jewellery brands provide some of the most incredible watches design-wise to the market!
