Nomos was founded in 1990, just after the reunification of Germany happened with the fall of the Berlin Wall and the collapse of the USSR. Based in the Glashutte region, it takes inspiration from the Bauhaus design movement. To have Glashutte on the dial, Nomos has to meet stringent quality standards. They must create at least 50% of the watch caliber in Glashutte to receive the title of being a true Glashutte watch. They only use in-house manufactured movements built up to 95% in the region, surpassing that requirement.
We have here a 2020 Nomos Club Campus 36mm Manual 709 / 8053 with a 36mm polished stainless steel case. Elegant tapered lugs with a lug to lug length of 47.5mm and a thickness of just 8mm ensures a comfortable fit on your wrist. On the right side is a signed crown. A polished bezel holds a flat sapphire crystal above a white dial. An outer 60-minute track is printed with black numerals. The indexes are a mixture of orange-bordered Arabic numerals, Roman numerals, and batons coated in SuperLumiNova. This combination makes the dial stand out from the crowd. At 6 o’clock, a small seconds register. Slender Rhodium-plated sword hands with SuperLumiNova infill complete this exciting dial. Text is printed precisely at 12 o’clock. On the reverse, an exhibition case back. Inside a Manually Wound Nomos Cal. ALPHA, 17 jewels, 21,600 beats per hour. This is their first in-house movement, decorated with blued screws, Glashütte ribbing and NOMOS perlage. The watch comes fitted on a NOMOS 18mm suede strap with a signed buckle and comes with its NOMOS presentation box and papers.
