Points of Mention

This watch is sold with its original NOMOS presentation box. The watch is paired on a well-suited black leather strap. The watch is from December 2004 and is sold in worn, but fair condition, as you can see. The grey dial and indexes are in perfect condition. The watch comes with our 12-Months NON-Waterproof Warranty.

The Watch

Nomos was founded in 1990, just after Germany’s reunification happened with the fall of the Berlin Wall and the USSR collapsed. Based in the Glashutte region, it takes inspiration from the Bauhaus design movement. To have Glashutte on the dial, Nomos has to meet stringent quality standards. They must create at least 50% of the watch caliber in Glashutte to receive the title of being a true Glashutte watch. They only use in-house manufactured movements built up to 95% in the region, surpassing that requirement.

Here we have a 2004 NOMOS Tangente Sport 501 with a 36.5mm polished stainless steel case. Elegant thin angled lugs with a lug to lug length of 46mm and a thickness of just 7.5mm ensure the watch a comfortable fit. A flat polished bezel holds a sapphire crystal over a textured grey dial. An outer minute track has lume plots at the hours with numeral indices marking the hours. Its Bauhaus-infused aesthetic is pleasing to the eye. Thin sword hands are blued with lume infill. At 6 o’clock a small seconds with a blued hand. Its simplicity and elegance make this watch stand out from the crowd. On the reverse, a screwed-down case back with “NOMOS Glashutte” engraved in its center. Inside a Manually Wound Nomos "Alpha" this was their first in-house movement, adjusted to Chronometer standards. 17 Jewels, 21,600 beats per hour. Decorated beautifully with Glashütte stripes and thermally blued screws. Features their in-house “Swing System” Escapement which was first introduced at BaselWorld 2014. The watch comes fitted on an 18mm leather strap.

Personal Note

This has to be one of the nicest Nomos to be had at this price point in my humble opinion, especially with a certain company beginning with "H" doing a limited edition almost identical to this Nomos with a Chronometer movement instead... I'd go for this one!
