Points of Mention

This watch is sold as "Watch Only" and therefore comes with no original Zenith box or paperwork. The watch comes paired on a well-suited suede strap with a gold-plated buckle. The watch is from Circa. 1990s and is sold in worn condition, but overall very fair condition as you can see, some signs of age and wear to the plating can be seen. The watch comes with our 12-Months Non-Waterproof Warranty.

The Watch

Zenith was founded in 1865 by 22-year-old watchmaker Georges Favre-Jacot. Their manufacturing was based in Le Locle Switzerland. Famous Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen, who was the first person to reach the South Pole in 1911 and the North Pole in 1926, wore Zenith watches on his expeditions. In 1999 Zenith was purchased by LVMH (Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton) joining brands like TAG and Hublot. Zenith is one of the only Swiss manufacturers to still produce their own in-house movements.

Here we have a 1990s Zenith Automatic, an attractive 34.5mm Gold plated round case. The curve of the lugs gives the watch a comfortable fit on your wrist. On the right side, a signed crown. A stepped bezel holds a domed crystal. The cream dial has an outer minute track with small Breguet numerals. Large Breguet numerals mark the hours. At 3 o'clock a framed date window. Elegant Gold Plated leaf hands complemented with a tapered second hand.  On the reverse, a snap-off case back. Inside an Automatic ETA 2892-2, 21 jewels, 28,800 beats per hour. The watch comes fitted with a leather strap.

Personal Note

Who doesn't love Breguet numerals? They are so elegant and perfect on a watch like this and I'm so happy to see it on a Zenith, especially in such a well-proprotioned case that works beautifully on the wrist, whilst I would have loved it to have been steel or solid gold, the gold-plating is still well done and helps keep the price super reasonable!
