Points of Mention

This watch is sold as "Watch Only" and therefore comes with no original box or paperwork. The watch comes paired with a green leather strap which suits the dial. The watch is from October 1981 based on the paperwork with the watch and is sold in worn, vintage condition. The watch comes with our 12-Months NON-Waterproof Warranty.

The Watch

The Edox watch company founded in 1884 by Christian Ruefly-Flury, a watchmaker in Biel-Bienne. In 1900 he chose “the Hour Glass” as the logo of Edox watches. In 1921 after the death of Christian Ruefly-Flury, the company was taken over by Robert Haufmann Hug. In 1950 Edox moved into new and much larger production premises. In 1983 Victor Strambini took over the control of the company by buying shares from ASUAG and he then moved the company to the Jura region of Switzerland. Since this time, Edox has been a family-owned independent watch company. In 1998 Edox launched the world’s slimmest calendar watch. In 2019 they celebrated their 135th anniversary.

Here we have an Edox from October 1981. It has a 34.5mm Chrome round case. Tapered lugs curve over your wrist for a comfortable fit. A lug to lug length of 41mm and a thickness of 12.5mm ensures that fit. The slim bezel holds a domed crystal. The black dial has applied numerals at 12,6 and 9 and batons marking the hours. At 3 o’clock a date window. Baton’s hands have lume infill alongside a tapered sweeping center seconds hand. At 12 o’clock the Edox hourglass logo and name printed in white. On the reverse, a screw-down stainless steel case back. Inside an Automatic ETA 2783, 25 jewels, 21,600 beats per hour with quick-set date feature. The watch comes fitted on an 18mm leather strap.

Personal Note

What a cool-looking watch from a brand we don't often see! The green of the dial is subtle but when paired with this green strap and you catch the watch at the right angle in the light it really does pop! Not a lot of money for a lot of watch, especially with box and paperwork too!
