The Watch

Here we have a 1970s Camy Geneve Alarm with a 37mm stainless steel tonneau case, the case gently curves over your wrist with a lug-to-lug length of 42mm and a case thickness of 13mm ensuring a comfortable fit. On the right side is a crown at 2 o’clock to adjust the alarm hand and at 4 o’clock the crown to adjust the time and date. A domed crystal sits above a blue sector-style dial, large applied chamfer-edged baton indexes mark the hours and sit proudly on the dial. An inner minute track in grey segments adds interest to the dial and at 3 o’clock a framed date window. Thick steel hands have lume infill with an orange alarm hand and sweeping second hand and at12 o’clock we have the Camy motif with “Geneve” underneath. At 6 o’clock “Alarm” completes this quintessential 1970s timepiece. The watch comes fitted on its original integrated bracelet with a signed folding clasp.

Personal Note

Alarm watches are just fun and cool, there's no denying that, so when paired into a 1970s integrated case with this striking dial, it becomes even better! If you have considered a vintage alarm watch and don't want to break the bank, this is the perfect option.

The Brand

Camy Watch Co. SA was founded in Genève in 1917. By the 1970s, they sold mass-market and upscale watches under the Camy, Cronel, Enzo, and Mirexal brands. Raymond Weil joined Camy Watch S.A. in 1949 where he soon became manager and spent 26 years with them. In 1976, during the “quartz crisis” that dramatically affected the watch industry, he was fired by the late owner's son. Raymond Weil went on to set up his own company and took with him a large number of Camy's employees. It was soon after this event that Camy Watch S.A. closed after just a few months.
