The Watch

Formerly known as the La Generale Watch Co. it was founded by Louis Brandt in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1848. In 1903, they renamed the company Omega until 1982 when they officially changed their name to Omega SA. They are part of the Swiss Swatch Group.

This Omega Seamaster has a 34mm round stainless steel case. Tapering lugs gently curve over the wrist. A lug to lug length of 41mm and a 9mm thickness ensures a comfortable fit on your wrist. Brushed and polished surfaces have crisp edges. On the right side, a signed crown. Its polished bezel holds a domed crystal. The sunburst silver dial has a crosshair design that shimmers in the light. Applied faceted baton indexes catch the light as you rotate your wrist. Dauphine's hands have lume infill and add elegance to the watch. On the reverse a screw-down case back with the Omega Hippocampus, a seahorse on the case back that represents Neptune the God of the sea. It was conceived by Pierre Borie after seeing a picture of Neptune riding a chariot pulled by seahorses. It is the reason why the seahorses are wearing a bridle. First seen on the Seamaster in 1958. Inside an Automatic Omega Cal. 552, 24 Jewels, 19,800 beats per hour, a high-grade movement. Fitted on an 18mm leather strap.

Personal Note

We are always being asked for Omega's, especially Seamasters, so when a reference and model like this shows itself we just have to have it! The original cross-hair dial featuring the slight speckling that dials like this develop over time, we personally love it! Plus there is something about how these 34mm Seamaster's wear, it's far more inline with a vintage 36mm watch on the wrist.
