Points of Mention

This watch is sold as "Watch Only" and therefore comes with no Girard Perregaux box or Girard Perregaux paperwork. The watch comes paired on an aftermarket leather strap that suits the watch nicely. The watch is from Circa. 1945 and the case has been professionally refinished. The dial is showing some signs of age, as you would expect. The movement has been serviced and the watch does come with the KibbleWatches 12-Months NON-Waterproof Warranty.

The Watch

The brand’s origins date back to Geneva Switzerland in 1791, where Jean-François Bautte, a fine pocket watchmaker and goldsmith built workshops and created his first watches. It wasn’t until 1906 that the two companies became acquainted when Constant Girard-Gallet actually bought the Bautte company from Jacques Bautte and the modern Girard-Perregaux was formed. The brand name was established in 1856 in the town of La Chaux-de-Fonds, thanks to the marriage of Constant Girard and Marie Perregaux.
This stunning 27mm square 18ct gold case has rounded corners, chamfered edges, and fine straight lugs. At 36mm lug to lug length the dimensions sit perfectly on the wrist. The square bezel surrounds the raised crystal. Its silver dial has gilt applied faceted baton hour markers. At 12 o'clock an applied GP. Thin gold fence hands sit elegantly in the center. At 6 o’clock a sub-seconds register. On the back, we have a plain case back with the watch serial number stamped into it. Inside a Manually Wound Girard Perregaux Cal. 91 U, 17 Jewels, 18,000 beats per hour. Fitted on an 18mm leather strap.

Personal Note

I believe Girard Perregaux is massively underrated, especially when it comes to a timepiece as incredible as this! 18ct gold, stunning dimensions, an excellent movement that is beautifully finished, email me for a photo of the movement! If you are comfortable with smaller watches, this is a true gem I would not sleep on!
