Points of Mention

This watch is sold with its original Extract from the Archives from Longines, no original box or paperwork beyond this is provided. The watch comes paired with a well-fitting brown Suede strap with a gold plated buckle. The watch is from the 2nd June 1942 and is in worn, vintage condition and showing signs of age and wear. The dial is an early restored dial and has even developed its own patina, the case has been repolished at some point in its past. The watch comes with our 12-Months NON-Waterproof Warranty.

The Watch

Longines was founded in 1832 by Auguste Agassiz and is considered to be the oldest registered watch brand. Based in Saint-Imier, Switzerland. Famously, Lindbergh, the aviator and adventurer, worked with Longines to create the Hour Angle watch in 1927. They are the official timekeeper for the French Open. A subsidiary of the Swatch Group since 1983.

Here we have an early Longines. According to Longines records, the watch was invoiced on 2nd June 1942 to the company Ostersetzer, the Italian Longines agent at that time. Ostersetzer is an import and wholesaling company of clocks, jewellery, alarm clocks, wall and grandfather clocks as well as clock parts. They are still trading today from their offices in Vienna Italy. We have included the extract from Longines confirming this information. The stunning 34mm solid 18ct Yellow gold round case has elegant slim straight lugs. A lug to lug length of 40mm and a 10mm thickness gives you a very comfortable fit on the wrist. The domed crystal sits above a cream dial. With such a fine bezel this crystal gives you a larger window onto the dial. An outer minute track marks the hours. Roman numeral and baton indices are perfectly printed. At 6 o’clock a sub-seconds register. Precise thin thermally blued hands complete this classic dress watch dial. Perfectly proportioned elegance on your wrist. On the reverse, a snap-on case back, stamped with its hallmarks. Inside a quality  Manually Wound Longines Cal. 27.0, 17 Jewels, 18,000 beats per hour. Fitted on an 18mm leather strap.

Personal Note

This stunning 18ct Yellow Gold Longines caught my eye as soon as I saw it, well technically it caught mine and Jonathan from AntiqueWatchCo's eye too. This is our second dual purchase, perfect for when we both love a watch but also saw it at the same time, so that is why you may see it advertised on his. This comes with our 12-Month Warranty and also lots of love from both of us, what more could you possibly want?
