Points of Mention

This watch is sold as watch only and therefore comes with no original Omega box or original Omega paperwork. The watch comes paired on a "Lizard Grain" leather strap with the original 1939 Stainless Steel Omega buckle, incredibly rare. The watch is in used vintage condition therefore signs of wear and age will be seen, please refer to the photos and macro shots. The movement has received a service and is running well and does come with a 6-month NON-WATERPROOF warranty, this movement is 81 years old so do treat it with a bit more care in general!

The Watch

We have a wonderful Art Deco Omega from circa.1939 with a 24mm stainless steel "Tank" case.  A slightly domed crystal covers a fine dial, with minute track, blue steel syringe hands and a square subdial for the seconds.  Elegant Arabic numerals are clear and easily read. The large crown is easy to grasp and pull out for adjustment. Inside we have the Omega manual wind T17. Designed by Charles Perregaux in 1934, the “T” is in reference to the movements tonneau shape and the “17” to its width at its centre in millimetres.

A true technical innovation by Omega, 167,000 Omega T17’s were produced powering so many watches the world over.  It’s a 15 jewel manual wind movement beating at 18,000 beats per hour. Fitted with a lovely 16mm brown leather strap including the original 1939 Omega Fab Suisse Steel buckle.

Personal Note

To get an insanely original model like this is rare in itself, but then to have its original buckle still is just so cool! The case is "Tank" style but shaped with such detail, more intricate than just a basic rectangle case. The dial is in great, vintage, condition showing true signs of age that only add great charm and character in my opinion! I suspect this won't stick around long, but if it does you can be sure I am going to enjoy it.
