The Watch

Seikos history began in 1881 when Kintaro Hattori established the K. Hattori retail and repair store. In 1892 Seikosha was established making wall clocks. 1895 saw the production of their first pocket watch. 1913 saw the launch of their first wristwatch, the Laurel. In 1924 the first Seiko was manufactured. Daini Seikosha (now Seiko Instruments Inc.) was established in 1937. Seiko was listed on the Tokyo stock exchange in 1949. The Suwa factory became independent and formed Suwa Seikosha Co., Ltd. (now Seiko Epson Corporation in 1959).

Here we have a striking and rare 1977 Seiko 7025-8010 whose polished tonneau-shaped 38mm stainless steel case curves towards the flat-ended lugs. A lug to lug length of 40mm and a 10.5mm give the watch an impressive wrist presence. The slim polished bezel holds a domed crystal above a black dial. Applied bevel-edged baton indexes mark the hours. A raised inner minute chapter ring has lume pips under each baton. At 3 o’clock a framed date window. Baton hands with luminescence infill are complemented by a sweeping second hand. Text is an applied Seiko and printed Automatic at 12. At 6 o’clock 17 Jewels and the Daini factory symbol. On the reverse, a screw-down case back with the serial and reference stamp into it. Inside an Automatic Seiko Cal. 7025, 17 Jewels. The movement was in production from 1976 until 1986. The watch comes fitted on its original Seiko stainless steel 19mm bracelet with a signed folding clasp.

Points of Mention

This watch is sold as "Watch Only". The watch is paired with its original Seiko bracelet with a signed folding clasp. The watch is from January 1977, based on the serial numbers, and is sold in mint condition, as you can see. The dial with the chamfered batons and luminance is in mint condition. The watch comes with our 12-Months NON-Waterproof Warranty.

Personal Note

Finding a vintage Seiko in this condition is difficult to find, especially as they were sold as very affordable watches back in their day so people purchased them and used them as real tools, so when they pop up like this I take them! Such a beautiful example and one well worth cherishing in a collection, regardless of price!
